SCSL Portal is using a Flickr Most Recent Images module on serveral of its pages, including the homepage. When I visited the Homepage today, I have noticed serveral things:
- The page was half-way loaded
- It was taking a long time to load the rest of the content
- On the status bar, it said - "Looking for Flickr ... "
- I connected to Flickr.com and the website was temporarily down.
For Solutions, Results, and Considerations ...
Solutions: - Unpublished the Flickr Module
Results:- Homepage was quick to load
Questions and Considerations: - Should we stop using Flickr Recent Photos module, or simply add a link to our photos on Flickr?
- Flickr serves as an effective marketing tool for libraries. Maybe, it doesn't need to be the other way around.
- Joomla! has its own online galleries extensions and capabilities, which could be integrated within the website.
- Are there Joomla extensions to synchronize Joomla Galleries with Flickr?
