Directions to your Library using Google Maps API - 2007/04/21 22:49 If you are looking to have a directions webpage on your Web Site. One with location(s) and better, I recommend Joomla Gmap extension.

This Joomla extension was very easy to install and implement. You do have to obtain a Google Maps API key in order to the component to work. You will also have to get latitude and longitude for each location on your maps but this is not terribly difficult if you use the Tiger Maps data website.

I use it to not only list my Library locations but also the locations of other libraries in my area. The extension comes with an additional Module and bot.

You can customize the maps, even add your own icons. I added the International Library Symbol as the icon for libraries. Some may consider it fluff on the website but I say "Why not make your directions a little more interesting?" and implement it with very little effort.

Re:Directions to your Library using Google Maps AP - 2007/04/21 23:48 Thanks for sharing Bob! We are using Google Map component at the SCSL as well. The component has many neat features and it was fairly easy to configure.
