My name is Christine - 2007/07/16 13:59 I work for a medium size public library and we desperately need to redesign our website. I know I want to use some sort of CMS and I am investigating Joomla. I am a little apprehensive about the learning curve that would be involved. I have designed sites using FrontPage and I have played around with Dreamweaver but that is the extent of my web design background. Also, our website is hosted by our ISP. Is it even possible for me to use Joomla? How easy/difficult is it to use Joomla to design the site and for staff to manage their content? Any feedback would be appreciated. TIA!

Re:My name is Christine - 2007/07/16 15:30 Hey Christine, welcome to our community.

Prior to working with Joomla, I had 5 years experience working with HTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL. It took me around 3 months to learn the Ins and Outs of Joomla.

Personally, I prefer using Dreamwaver to design my Joomla Templates - in my opinion, Dreamwaver is a much better product than Frontpage and the newest version, Adobe CS3 is amazing!

I don't think you will have any issues using Joomla with your current ISP. Most ISPs if not all, offer PHP and MySql capabilities.

At the end of the day, people want a website that is unique to their organization, works well, and easy to maintain and update. I would be happy to help you setup your library's website. - Tao
